SUMMARY#OF RESPONSIBILITY - Job Summary (general statement of purpose or objective of position) Greets, instructs and directs patients and visitors. Ensures complete and correct capture and registration of all needed patient demographics/insurance into information system. Responsible for performing all scheduling, check-in and checkout duties in accordance with practice policies. Responsible for charge posting and over-the-counter payment posting. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Knowledge, skills, abilities, license, registration, certification, education, and experience EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE: Prefer one year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Knowledge of medical terminology desirable. (Familiar with ICD-10 and CPT coding). Knowledge of third party payers desirable. Computer experience required. Knowledge of business office procedures. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric system. Knowledge of customer service guidelines. CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, BONDING: None PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifting files or paper will be required. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type at 40 wpm, operate a calculator, telephone, copier, and such other office equipment as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful. Work is performed in reception area. Involves frequent contact with patients. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Contact involves dealing with sick people.
