Pathology from an accredited program Description: Provides clinical
patient care, including screenings, evaluations, and treatments, as
it relates to Speech Language Pathology. Documents diagnostic
evaluations, treatment plans, discharge summaries, recommendations,
progress reports, daily treatment records, and home programs.
Utilizes opportunities to promote speech pathology and physical
medicine through appropriate formal and informal activities.
Provides educational training to hospital staff and community as
requested. Delivers clinical patient care to a wide variety of
diagnoses, disorders, and age ranges. Utilizes time efficiently,
meeting or exceeding departmental standards. Prioritizes workload
to assist other staff members in overload or emergency situations.
Updates or develops state-of-the-art evaluation and treatment
protocols. Keeps supervisor informed of departmental equipment
needs. Ensures that written documentation meets professional
standards. Provides appropriate documentation to all requesting
agencies and individuals, including physicians and insurance
companies. Assists in the development of marketing materials with
supervisor approval. Maintains professional competence and
expertise in speech language pathology. Attends 95% of all
scheduled departmental and team meetings. Assists with performance
improvement initiatives as directed by supervisor. Serves as a
professional role model to subordinates. Orients, supervises, and
evaluates practicum students and graduate interns as requested by
supervisor. Carries out non-routine procedures under constantly
changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from
supervisor. Coordinates activities of others without supervisory
responsibilities. Leads others in the same work performed without
supervisory responsibilities. Works directly with patients and/or
customers. Collaborates with internal and external customers and
other healthcare professionals and staff. Ability to effectively
present information and respond to questions from patients and
families. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional
journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to use computers with basic knowledge for data input and
