Seeking General Surgeon for Fort Smith, Arkansas

Baptist Health Forth Smith (BHFS), in conjunction with Baptist Health Physician Services (BHPS), is recruiting two General Surgeons to join an existing group of three employed general surgeons. The recruitment need is to replace a physician who recently left the practice and for an increase in demand. One physician does the bulk of the general surgery cases while the other two have an emphasis on bariatric and cosmetic surgery.

The opportunity for growth is tremendous as this 492-bed facility has over 68,000 visits per year through the ER. The 103-bed sister hospital in Van Buren is only 15 minutes away and has over 27,000 visits per year. The draw area is a substantial portion of Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma with more than 40 clinics and over 100 employed providers.

BHFS is a full-service hospital with 10 ORs and a full slate of specialty physicians. This includes interventional radiology and intensivist coverage in the 24 bed ICU. BHFS also has Da Vinci Robotics including the XI and SI robots. The hospital has moved to EPIC EMR in June of 2019 and the clinics will follow in September. Call is projected to be 1:4 or 1:5 based on new additions to the staff. The physician clinics are within walking distance to the hospital.
