Summary: The Director of Finance is a senior management team member for OVG Facilities at Fort Smith Convention Center. We are looking for a proactive, driven, and collaborative professional responsible for establishing the financial infrastructure and overseeing the accounting department's daily operations. The Director of Finance must be detail-oriented and have a passion for rolling up his/her sleeves. Responsibilities of this Position:--

  • Ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Coordinating and preparing the budget and financial forecasts
  • Development and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and checklists
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports
  • Assist with projecting event deals, actual event P&L's, analysis, and "settlement" of shows on the night of events
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Oversee the revenue and expense recognition process so that it follows contract terms
  • Lead with the annual GAAP audit and timely financials, as well as various financial reports
  • Lead other special projects as requested by leadership
  • Monitors compliance with all provisions of the management contract
  • Maintains contact with Risk Management Department and Insurance broker for coordination of appropriate coverage
  • Oversee payroll and HR functions in the venue. Nonessential Job Functions:

      • B.S. in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university--
      • CPA or MBA a plus 5 to 7 years of experience in public accounting and/or financial management at a supervisory level or as department head
      • Venue/Live Entertainment Industry experience is preferred Skills and Abilities:
        • Willing to work nights and weekends as required
        • Be a business partner with other departments ensuring financial success of the venue
        • Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting
        • Excellent organizational skills
        • Demonstrated attention to detail
        • Ability to learn quickly, open to change and enjoy the challenge of unfamiliar tasks
        • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and ambiguous environment; handle multiple tasks with the ability to re-prioritize and shift priorities quickly
        • Written/Oral communications - ability to speak and write clearly and concisely, get messages across that have the desired effect
        • Experience with Paylocity payroll, and Net Suite accounting system preferred

          • This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills, including ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, recognize and resolve conflicts, and openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.
          • While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee continually operates a computer and other office devices such as telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc.;--
          • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery;--
          • Constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff;--
          • Constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Work environment:
            • The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time.--
            • The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
