Job Description:
PURPOSE OF THE JOBThe Manufacturing Process Engineer is
responsible for providing all aspects of technical leadership in
the improvement of manufacturing processes, manufacturing equipment
efficiencies, and product quality, within the Fort Smith
facility.

Responsibilities
- Utilize technical knowledge to provide a safe and secure work
environment for all employees, contractors and visitorsTechnical
Excellence and Process Optimization
- Understands current manufacturing process capability and drives
loss elimination
- Implements process improvements
- Leads training and development activities for the operations
team including developing documentation and delivering training for
operations to onboard new employees and to elevate skill levels as
needed to progress TPM
- Supports training and development activities for other pillars
as needed
- Participates in the scope development, training, and execution
of all major projects, including rebuilds, to ensure safety,
performance, schedule and cost goals of the projects are met as
assigned
- Shares accountability for successful delivery of all aspects of
the plant operating plan with other plant leadership team
members
- Leads cost improvement and operations/quality improvement
projects as well as supporting plant TPM activities
- Acts as the catalyst in sharing best practices and process
improvements across mat plants.
Lead and Participate on Cross-Functional Teams
- Drive alignment between plant departments
- Share best practices, challenge thinking and provide candid and
respectful feedback; set an example for the organization of how
teamwork and partnerships should work

- Understanding and communicating customer expectations through
effective use of standard work, reporting and teams
communications
- Assuring standard processes are defined and in place that
reliably provide product meeting customer performance and schedule
expectations
- Facilitating a culture to maintain, improve and/or develop
effective customer relationships.Primary Job responsibilities:
- This position will be primarily focused on project based and
improvement type work driven by losses and chronic line issues
supporting the AM, PM, QM, FI, and T&D pillars. This may
include but is not limited to:
- Loss elimination, escalations RCA, FI projects, capital
projects, etc.
- This position will be heavily involved in developing
documentation and delivering training for operations to onboard new
employees and to elevate skill levels as needed to progress
TPM
- This position will become a rapid response person for process
issues on any North American OC mat line. So, this person could be
available for project or problem resolution work at the other
plants
- This position will be secondary point of contact for line
issues and management as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering
or related discipline
- 5+ year's progressive technical experience in a manufacturing
environment.Experience:
- Pulp and paper or fiberglass mat process experience
preferred
- Team leadership experience preferred
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt and/or Lean Manufacturing
experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Computer skills: The ability to utilize Owens Corning systems
and the software necessary for this role
- Utilizing data and data collection systems, and Six Sigma
methods for problem-solving and decision-making to eliminate
manufacturing losses and unnecessary costs
- Implementing strategic plans
- Impactful verbal and written communications

- Strong planning, resourcing and delegation skills
- Ability to engage and care for others starting with safety
